Quirky pop, that lies somewhere between the Smiths and the Beatles! That's where you'll find Duped these days. Either playing high profile gigs up and down the country or tucked away in their studio adding whistles and bells to harmonious driven guitar songs.
Duped consists of 4 core members, with the odd ivory -tinkler or brass player added (only when they run out of hands themselves of course!) to their high energy live shows. it's often in these live settings where the band find themselves at their peak. As is evident from recent performances at the Hard Working Class Heroes A+R showcase, Murphy's band of the year finals, On The Verge expo in Derry, supports with Hal, Mundy and Paddy Casey and of course racking up 4 (and counting) appearances at the famed Ruby Sessions which has played host to Damien Rice, Damien Dempsey, Joe Chester, etc.
Duped have just released their first E.P. - "Meanwhile Elsewhere", as an industry release which has been selling quickly on their website www.dupedmusic.com. The E.P. was recorded, produced, engineered and packaged in their own hand built studios.
Add to this a track on a forthcoming Thin Lizzy tribute album due for international release in the new year and is to include such luminaries as the Darkness. the track itself, a version of Don't Believe a Word (featuring electric piano's, banjo's and backward guitars!) has already met the approval of the surviving Thin Lizzy line-up.
So if you haven't been Duped yet, you will be. |
