Mark Longworth A Load of Old Ballads
.: Tracklisting :.
1. Barmy Army 2. You Call To Me 3. Black Market Daydreams
Self Produced CD-R, Jewel Case, matt inlay. Copyright Mark Longworth.
I've been writing songs on and off (more off than on, it must be said!) for a number of years, and since buying a 16-track digital recorder a few years ago, I've been able to commit some of them to disc. I've got all the gear - drum machine, guitars, keyboard etc, but I'm not the best musician in the world; I think of myself as a songwriter, mainly. Three of my songs have been played on the radio, one of them winning a songwriting contest on BBC Radio Lancashire. Another song won the Sound Control magazine MixMaster competition (acoustic section) in 2004. I've been in a couple of bands over the years, but it all petered out and now I just record stuff by myself. I'm unsigned (some would say unhinged!) and I'd love to work with a producer and some good musicians to record professional quality versions of some of my songs. On the CD there are 3 tracks - the 2 winners (namely 'Barmy Army' and 'You Call To Me') and one called 'Black Market Daydreams' which the more I listen to it, the less sense it makes! Hope you enjoy them.

(From 'Sound Control magazine', December 2004) "As expected, by far the majority of entries were for the Acoustic category. After going through them all, we plumped for Mark Longworth and his track 'You Call To Me'. A very simple affair, and the only one to deviate from the standard acoustic guitar as the lead instrument, preferring the piano as his instrument of choice. This beautiful vocal and piano track keeps things tidy and clean when they need to be, and just has that Factor X, both lyrically and sonically. Well done to Mark on this one, and congratulations on the win!"
