Zoe recorded this album when she was 16 years old. The title track was written by her musical director and recorded with backing vocals in English and French. Zoe had been approached by an American who wanted certain songs for a film he was planning. He also wanted Zoe to record a song for a French Canadian football team to adopt. She kept her part but the film has never been made and Never Give Up has still not been adopted by the football team.  

The album was released in January 2003 just in time for Zoe to take with her on a Fan Cruise for fans of The Ventures which had Zoe playing as a special guest. This was to be a great year for Zoe in America. The Ventures fans loved her tone on the guitar and Zoe also. 
        
    

    

        


            
Bravo Zoe! I'm giving you a standing ovation. This is an extraordinary work of art. You should be very proud... both your electric and acoustic tone is "delicious" Your performance brings tears to my eyes. I have had the pleasure of watching you mature both physically and musically, and I am so proud of you accomplishment. Your performance is just filled with so much heart, it pours out all over. I can also hear a new Zoe McCulloch in some of your licks...you must be practicing morning, noon and night, and it has paid off. You've developed your own style and sound, something that every guitarist attempts to do... and for some it takes a lifetime, some never make it, but Zoe, you certainly have, and at such a young age. I'm so impressed!
            
Al Steele is to be complimented too on such great musical arrangements. All of the artists and instrumentation selected is superb and the quality of this recording is amongst the finest I've heard in a long time. This is truly a professional work of art, and in my opinion worthy of Grammy recognition. Being a guitarist myself, I can sense the passion you have for the instrument and for your music. I can truly tell the world, "I knew you when..." and I'm certainly glad I know you now. I don't know how you'll top this one! I don't know anyone that could, but then again, I've seen you 'grow' and I'm certain you'll come up with something and take the world by surprise once again.
            
Absolutely marvellous job Zoe. The world is sure to be impressed with this cd, it's destined to become a guitar player's classic recording.
